Grassroots Program

 With a Community Development Fund (or CDF), the people can take charge of their own infrastructure development through a shared pool of funds controlled democratically, by putting as little or as much money into the fund as desired. These funds can then be allocated towards new infrastructure projects which will also fall under democratic ownership, not government ownership, and not private ownership. 

 The home has long been at the centre of Australian life, and that dream is falling out of the hands of more and more Australians, young Aussies most of all. Yet the policies proposed by all the parties, left and right, are insufficient to address the deeper mechanisms causing the housing crisis, which is the commodification of housing into an asset to be bought and sold on the market. Housing is the foundation of modern life; without a home, an individual becomes unemployable and condemned to a life of poverty. The CDF program will enable the building of housing syndicates, which can build new homes and buy homes off the market, decommodifying them and placing them under the common ownership of those who live in them.
